How have the past few weeks been treating you? We have two eclipses in this month of August. The first was a lunar eclipse on 7th August and the next one is a full mon solar eclipse on 21st August. There seems to be a lot of tension around. I have friends who are going through serious relationship struggles and conflicts, some friends are struggling to sleep, some friends who are feeling anxious for no reason and others who seem to feel angry randomly for no reason.
I have noticed that my sleeping pattern has changed in the past two to three weeks. I have been waking up in the middle of the night and unsure why, although I could get back to sleep quickly. My dreams have been very odd. In the last three nights, I have either slept a lot or I could not sleep very much at all.
You may or may not follow the astrological movements in the skies. I hope that you find this article useful anyhow to overcome any strong energies and emotions which you may be feeling.
Walking in nature
One of my closest friends have been waking at 5am every morning and not been able to get back to sleep. For her, going for a walk around the lake seems to calm her emotions. I believe that mindful walking can really help, without earplugs in and just listening to footsteps and what the nature has to offer. If you are lucky enough to live close to the sea, lake or a pond, the positive ions generated can help balance our bodies and emotions. Of course, please be vigilant and stay safe if you are going to walk somewhere quiet.
Take a step back and you will see the vastness of the sea and sky
There is a very well-known Chinese proverb, which is 忍一時風平浪靜 退一步海闊天空.
The literal translation of this is: “”Endure for a moment’s impulse, the winds shall remain calm and the waves silent. Take a step back, you’ll see a wide open sea and the vastness of the sky.”
There seems to be a lot of tension going on in the world right now, not just what’s on the news but what you may be experiencing in your daily lives. In the heat of the moment, when you might be in an argument or heated debate with someone, sometimes taking a step back and just stopping can reduce the severity of the situation. Not agreeing with someone silently does not mean we agree with them. It might just have a better or easier outcome in the future. Spoken words cannot be withdrawn once they are said. Depending on the situation, sometimes it might be wiser to take a step back or walk away.
Yoga and Meditation
Whenever I have felt anxious, yoga has always helped in regulating my breathing. I have a tendency to hold my breathe in when I am stressed or anxious. Yoga is really great for de-stressing. Lately, I have noticed that practising yoga in the evenings really stops me from sleeping, as I am full of energy. I now try and practise during the daytime.
Listening to meditative music might help you sleep if you are suffering from insomnia.
Go Easy on Food and Drink
If you are feeling anxious, upset, stressed or tired, you might want to reach out to comfort foods such as lots of carbohydrates, cheese and/or alcohol. However, they probably won’t help you sleep very well. Chances are the feelings won’t go away permanently so they might make you feel better in the short term but you probably won’t feel any happier or lighter in the long term. Having a balanced diet will help balance and our bodies, which can also help us balance our minds.
Try not to stress over feeling this way
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and worked or thought hard to go back to sleep, but the more you focus on it, the harder you sleep? Sometimes, we just have to accept and let the feelings be. We are all human and there is nothing wrong in feeling these emotions. They will pass, eventually.
A little bit of information about eclipses
For those of you who may be curious, the eclipse energies could last for another few weeks. Eclipses give us an opportunity to trigger changes in our lives. Some of them are imposed on us and some are chosen by us (such as dietary changes). Eclipses are supposed to eclipse what is no longer serving us.
